چکیده

purpose: to determine changes in streoacuity in anisometropic myopic eyes after photorefractive keratectomy (prk). methods: this quasi-experimental clinical trial was performed in myopic patients with at least 1 d of in anisometropia spherical, astigmatic or spherical equivalent who underwent photorefractive keratectomy (prk) using the technolas 217 z excimer laser machine. changes in streoacuity were evaluated. tno and butterfly stereoacuity tests before prk and at 2 weeks, 1 month and 3 months after prk. results: overall, 98 eyes of 49 patients (71.4% male and 28.6% female subjects) with mean age of 28±5.5 years and mean myopia of -3.32±1.74d and mean astigmatism of 1.3±1.3 d were enrolled in study. preoperative mean stereoacuity values were 102±103.44 sec/arc and 56.8±41 sec/arc by tno and butterfly stereoacuity tests which changed to 90±110.52 sec/arc (p=0.009)، and 56.5±41.3 sec/arc (p=0.80) respectively 3 months after prk. total proportion of improvement in stereoacuity values was 10.2% and 6.12% by tno and butterfly stereoacuity tests respectively. conclusion: stereoacuity improves after photorefractive keratectomy in anisometropic myopic patients. this  improvement is more significant with tno test than the butterfly stereoacuity test.

Stereoacuity after Wavefront-guided Photorefractive Keratectomy in Anisometropia

PURPOSE To determine changes in stereoacuity in anisometropic myopic eyes after photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). METHODS Myopic patients with at least 1 diopter (D) of anisometropia in sphere, astigmatism, or spherical equivalent who were referred to our hospital for excimer refractive surgery were enrolled as a prospective sequential interventional case series. All patients underwent wavef...

Stereoacuity after photorefractive keratectomy in myopia

PURPOSE Stereopsis, as a part of visual function, is the ability of differentiating between the two eyes' views (binocular disparity), due to the eyes' different positions. The aim of this study was to compare stereoscopic vision before and after photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) in myopia. METHODS In a prospective interventional case series study clinical trial, forty-eight myopic individual...

Corneal ectasia after photorefractive keratectomy.

Two patients developed corneal ectasia after photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). Case 1 had evidence of early keratoconus preoperatively, with manifest refractions of -4.00 +2.50 x 160 (20/20) in the right eye and -7.00 +3.00 x 180 (20/30) in the left eye; thin corneas (472 microm and 441 microm, respectively); and inferior paracentral steepening in the right eye and central steepening in the le...

Refractive regression after photorefractive keratectomy.

To the Editor: We thank Drs. Talamo and Abad and Mr. Lim (Refractive Regression after Excimer Laser Photorefractive Keratectomy. J Refract Surg 1996;12:757[letter]) for their comments and are gratified that their findings support our hypothesis that the refractive regression after photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) is not a result of the thicker regrowth of connnective tissue or epithelium in th...

Photorefractive keratectomy for hyperopia after radial keratotomy.

BACKGROUND Progressive hyperopia is a common complication following radial keratotomy. METHODS Ten eyes of ten consecutive patients with hyperopia after radial keratotomy between +1.75 and +4.00 diopters (D) were treated with the hyperopia module of the Nidek Model EC-5000 excimer laser. The mean preoperative uncorrected visual acuity was 0.38 (20/60+). RESULTS After excimer laser photorefr...

Contact lens fitting after photorefractive keratectomy.

AIMS/BACKGROUND This study evaluated contact lens fitting and the longer term response of the photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) cornea to lens wear. In PRK for myopia problems such as regression, anterior stromal haze, irregular astigmatism, halo aberration, and anisometropia have been reported. Certain patients therefore require contact lens correction to obtain best corrected visual acuity (B...
